How we work
Trust is the product. This page explains exactly how Wealth Signal is made, what we will never do, and how to hold us to it.
Editorial standards
Wealth Signal reports what happened, investigates why, shows the numbers, presents the evidence on both sides, explains what could change the story, and lets the reader decide. We do not forecast prices.
Every article has one primary job — reach, trust, identity, community, conversion or utility — and that job is displayed on the article itself. We do not optimise the publication for pageviews.
We do not publish an article that leaves a reader with nothing they could not have got from the headline.
The six labels
Wealth Signal separates six kinds of statement and labels them visibly wherever they appear: Fact (verified information), Data (measured financial or economic information), Wealth Signal calculation (our arithmetic, with assumptions disclosed), Interpretation (what the evidence may imply), Opinion (an editorial view, identified as such) and Speculation (possible outcomes that cannot currently be established).
These are never blurred. If we cannot establish something, we label it speculation or leave it out.
Source standards
Primary sources first: SEC filings, company investor relations, the Federal Reserve, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the Treasury and other government agencies.
Named secondary sources are used where a primary document does not exist, is not public, or is not timely. Every source is linked and dated at the foot of the article, and labelled primary or secondary.
We do not print a number we cannot attribute. Where a figure — such as a consensus forecast — was not available from a source we trust, the page shows an em dash and says why.
Market data
Wealth Signal does not licence a real-time market data feed. Every quote on this site is a delayed, end-of-day figure captured on a stated date from a named source.
We do not display flashing live prices. A financial media product should help you understand a market, not simulate a trading terminal.
Fact checking
Numbers are checked against the source document, not against another article. Where two sources disagree, we use the primary one and note the discrepancy.
Calculations are published with their inputs and assumptions so that a reader can reproduce them. If you can reproduce it, you can check it.
Corrections
We never quietly change a material factual error. Material corrections are logged on the corrections page, noted at the foot of the affected article, and the article's updated timestamp is changed.
Typographical fixes that do not change meaning are made without a notice.
To report an error, open an issue on the repository — there is no contact address on this site yet, and we would rather say so than print one that bounces with the URL and the specific figure or claim.
Use of AI
AI tools may be used for research assistance, transcription, code and production tasks. Every published figure is verified by a person against the source document.
We do not publish AI-generated articles, AI-generated quotes, or thin AI-generated pages built for search engines. If a page exists, it is because a person decided it should.
Advertising, affiliates and sponsorship
Wealth Signal is building audience first. Advertising, where it exists, is clearly separated from editorial content and never appears inside an article's analysis.
Sponsored content is labelled as sponsored, in the same position, in the same style, every time. A sponsor never sees editorial content before publication and never influences a conclusion.
We do not currently run affiliate links on editorial pages. If that changes, the relationship will be disclosed on the page where it appears, not only in a policy document.
Conflicts of interest and disclosures
Contributors disclose personal holdings in any company they write about, and that disclosure appears on the article.
Wealth Signal does not accept payment to cover a company, does not take equity in companies it covers, and does not publish investor relations material as editorial.
Ownership and contact
Wealth Signal is an independent financial media product, written and maintained by one person. For editorial questions or corrections, open an issue on the repository — there is no contact address on this site yet, and we would rather say so than print one that bounces. Commercial enquiries are handled separately from the newsroom.
How we judge our own work
Before publication, significant pieces are scored one to ten against eleven criteria. The scores are internal; the standard is not.
- Originality — is this available elsewhere?
- Usefulness — does the reader leave able to do something?
- Accuracy — is every number sourced and correct?
- Depth — did we get past the obvious?
- Clarity — could a smart person outside finance follow it?
- Beginner accessibility — is any jargon explained on the spot or linked?
- Intermediate usefulness — does an experienced reader still learn something?
- Human voice — does this read like a person wrote it?
- Shareability — is there a reason to send it to someone?
- Brand recognition — could you tell it was ours without the logo?
- Return potential — does it give someone a reason to come back tomorrow?
We do not publish mediocre work to maintain volume. A quiet week is better than a padded one.
